What Is Shared Parenting?
Parenting after a divorce may take the form of shared parenting, which essentially means that the parties share legal custody of the child or children. If the parties cannot agree and the court determines that shared parenting is not in the children’s best interest, one parent will be designated the legal residential and sole custodian of the children.
Sole custody and shared parenting (shared custody) are completely separate issues from other issues that will be determined with regard to children, such as parenting time.
